A podiatry treatment starts by taking a comprehensive and precise medical history. The history gives the podiatrist a picture of the patient concerned. This results in findings that form the basis of all treatment measures (therapy or treatment plans), preventative measures and advice that are needed to remedy or alleviate the foot complaints.
By enquiring in-depth into existing illnesses or problems, the podiatrist is able to establish a solid foundation for personalized advice and further treatment.
Obtaining a thorough medical history forms an integral part of the diagnosis. Not least, it serves to ensure that the podiatrist enquires about existing illnesses and additional risk factors. At the same time, the patient feels they are being taken seriously, which forms an excellent basis for subsequent advice and treatment.
It is also important that we document the treatment process. This allows us to refer back to any treatment or findings that took place in the past.
